I have a 97 eagle talon esi 5 speed that runs and drives well but does have its issues. And by that I mean electrical-nothing that I can tell thus far affects its drive ability except at night. No dash lights, including air controls. Now the check engine, srs, and brake lights work, also the dome. What I have done is what follows:

checked
fuses = good
bulbs = good

I know its not much but its all I can think of. If any of you have an idea I would be very grateful.

Have you tried fiddling with the dimmer? Checking voltage on the potentiometer on input and output pins? www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=176217

Yes, but unlikely. In this case, even further from the description; why would the HVAC controller illumination also be out? I'd track the common threads there, be it ground and/or power from the wiring diagrams.

Okay I think I may have found it. I will find out tomorrow if I'm right, too cold outside to continue.
I think the dimmer dial is bad even though the volt meter reads everything as fine.
But I noticed at first when my knee hit the area where the dimmer is located I saw a flicker as I was getting out of the car. So tomorrow I will try bypassing it.

I believe everything for the dash lights does run through that dimmer and it would be a good place to start looking in my opinion. With the wiring diagram that you've been given you may be able to bypass it or test it's inputs and outputs to see if it's bad.

Keep us posted.
