Honestly, I would need a diagram to even begin to help you. The car may be new enough that a request is sent to the pcm to start the car when you turn the key, and when the pcm sees a high enough signal from the cam or crank sensor (meaning the rpm’s are going up) it will cut power to the starter. Older cars were just a straight shot from the ignition switch to the starter relay. If you aren’t comfortable working on an issue like this, I would ask your master tech to tutor you if he’s not a grouchy old man.
