Find the service manuals wiring diagrams in an explorer forum or the like, trace common wiring points including grounds. Modern vehicles control most of the functionality outside of the directly related engine components via micro-controllers in a central housing anymore, usually as a large secondary fuse panel. Part of the wiring connections getting lower than needed voltage/current due to a dying battery, corroded terminals on grounds or power connections are often times responsible for these kind of funky night-club style vehicle issues.
