Have a 2010 lincoln mkx and can not figure out what is causing the misfire. Its a cylinder 3 misfire. Does not happen if the engine is cold when the car starts. Will happen after cars been drove a bit and engine warms up and then if the car is shut off for 10 mins or so it will start misfiring. Leave the car sit long enough qnd the misfire doesnt happen. Have change the spark pugs and coils already. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a thermal soak issue.
Being that you stated the plugs and coils have been changed.
My thought is to look further back into the primary ignition.

Swap injectors with another cylinder, then compression and leakdown.

So havnt had the problem against until today when in made several short trips on way home it started mmisfiring again. Very annoyed its being so hard to pin point bc its not happening all the time.
Could it possibly be a malfunction sensor such a a MAF sensor or an 02 sensor? Ive also read it could be a bad computer but that seems like it would be all the time

Might start checking powers and grounds to the ECM and sensors.

This now has me completly puzzled. Check engine light went off and been running fine bc ive been letting it sit when going places. But had time today to look at it and tryied to get it to act up by doing short drives to random places leaving it sit then start back up and its been running fine cant get it to misfire at all. The only doffernce between today and the other day when it was misfiring is that the gas is a lot lower running with anout 20 miles to empty.

Perhaps something to do with the gas tank or fuel delivery?
