      I have a 1995 Nissan xe 4×4,just put a new battery in it , the starter isn’t engaging and I have no lights in in my dash or outside I can here my fuel pump turn on and my starter is working but not engaging,what could it be ?my ignition is showing some wear.

        I would suggest you start with checking all the power and ground connections for being clean, tight and no damage to the wiring.
        Next check all fuses, relays and fusible links (if so equipped.)

          I replaced the fuseable links and as soon as I connected them the sizzled

            If the fusable link(s) burnt your looking at a direct short .
            You’ll need a wiring diagram ( power distribution ) for what is connected to those fusable links and trace the wiring.
