Agreed, however, my problem is intermittent. If I test it now, it would probably show 12volts and the car would crank….maybe. If I were lucky and it was one of the times the car won’t crank, then I could more easily trouble shoot the 12volt path. I just never know when it’s gonna act up. I wish it was a hard failure.
Any suggestions how to better trouble shoot an intermittent cranking issue?

battery terminals are clean and tight. check the terminals at the starter for

Those starters do go out from time to time and what you describe sounds like a starter issue. The videos posted are a great way to start but the next time it happens you might see if you can get a long pry bar or something on the starter and try the traditional ‘tap with a hammer’ to see if that gets the starter to work correctly, if it does then you can be reasonably sure you need to replace the starter.
