How do you know the sound is coming from the throttle body? Or does it make the sound all the time and it’s louder on acceleration? I’m a bit confused. Any check engine lights? Does the vehicle run poorly in any way?
actually, i was wrong. I went and borrowed a pair of stethoscopes from my father. upon testing the surface of multiple areas i found it is the loudest at the alternator.
Well, it could easily be a bearing failing in the alternator then. A quick way to check would be to remove the belt and start the engine. If the whining is gone, you’ve narrowed it down even more. Then, you could either live with the noise or replace the alternator because you know it is going to fail completely in the near future.
Also too, if it is really more like a moan, check your power steering fluid. If it is low, the power steering pump could be ‘whining’.
You could always remove the drive belt and start the engine to see if the noise is still there, at this time you could also rotate the pulley to see if you can ‘feel’ any issues there before you replace anything.
I agree with the above posts. However, those serpentine belts on those vehicles can be very tedious to install.
I would also check for vacuum leaks.
