Suggestion to narrow things down, have your BCM scanned for faults, after that have your electric acuator checked for faults. While you are having the acuator checked, have the rear door button itself checked, they are VERY VERY VERY VERY prone to corrosion and fail all the time. Improper weather shielding by the manufacturer its a known issue that happens often. Easy fix is after you have it replaced if that is the issue, have the wire housing covered to prevent moisture build up on the inside, and when the button is taken out before replacement have some weather proof non acidic sealant put on the back side of the switch to prevent moisture accumulating on the back side. You might even want to consider putting a piece of plastic over the top of that switch at night if you live in a very wet environment and if the vehicle is stored outside all the time. Water can leak in around the switch button itself and not just the housing but requires a extended period of time being in the elements. Taking a bit of clear wrap and a small piece of painters tape you could cover the switch temporarily at night without damaging the paint if it proves that this is the cause. If its not the cause then congrats you have a slightly newer model where they have weatherized the button.

Also keep in mind your vehicle is prone to part 15 of the FCC rules. (his device complies with part 15 of the FCC rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.) Which means that some devices one very notably being Verizon phones, can cause the rear latch to unlock and open. Its just a recent oversight that has come to light with that years model. Infact at first I thought that was the problem you had until you mentioned that your thob worked. Usually they will not work due to interferance from other devices. Hope this helps.

Oops sorry I was reminded that your vehicle has a actual handle and not just a button on the back. My apologies, you are refurring to a interior switch correct? In that case its very simply a matter of poping out the accesory switch panel and disconnecting the wires on the back side of the switch and lifting out the old one and slapping in the new one. They are NOT coded due to them being INSIDE the vehicle and not needing any security. Hope this helps and again sorry been dealing with a lot of strange vehicles lately.lol Getting them all mixed up. Thats why mechanical work is really a hands on affair.

nope it is the touchpad on the rear hatch door that does nothing when you touch it to unlock it it looks like the door handles but you don’t pull up on it you just put your hand up there like you were going to pull up and touch the pad with your fingers but it does nothing? hope this helps…… I looked up a part and I think it is called a tailgate relesee switch not sure though

Yay so I was right..HOld on. *PUnches his friend in the stomache.* HA HA!! Ok now then so its under the handle and not to the side. Ok, well then what I said in the first post stands, have all that stuff checked as mentioned before and good luck. 🙂 If it is a exterior switch then I do believe there coded to the car thats because on older vehicles with the combo lock you could bust them out and cross wire them in order to unlock the car. So now it goes to a chip that sends a coded signal to the brain that says “I am part of this car and I say unlock now!!” Instead of it just being a normal open/close circuit.
