      I replaced the ESM after having a P0401 code. Replacing the unit cleared the code however, now I am getting a P1000 code. As a result the SMOG test can be initiated due to the P1000. How can I clear that code?

        It simply means that the OBD-II monitor testing is not complete.
        Usually caused by the battery or PCM has been disconnected or the diagnostic trouble codes have been cleared
