Sounds like the switch itself. if the pass side switch is the same type and if it works properly you can try hooking that one up on the d-side and see if the window operates normally. if so then you would need a new d-side switch.
Hi college man,
If you can remove the switch, try spraying some electrical contact cleaner spray into it. Sometimes crud and dirt work their way into the switch and prevent the switch’s contacts from working properly. Good luck and keep us posted.
It does sound like a switch issue but instead of just replacing the part it might be a good idea to check the wiring diagram for that circuit to see if there is some sort of control unit that controls that featuer and look to see what signal it’s suppose to get from the switch to activate the auto featuer and verify that the switch is NOT sending that signal first. Or if you were just going to shotgun it then use a salvage part instead of buying new so that you don’t loose too much if your wrong.

just thought I would update everyone on this post. shot gunned the switch with a switch. did not solve the problem.
bought an OE drivers motor and put it in over the weekend.The window now works perfect. I was sure it was the
switch due to the motor did go up and down. I guess the motor was heating up and would quit. Thanks guys for all
the input. we can call this one closedC8-)Well done on fixin yer car man. Sucks that you had to replace the switch though. Those systems are so complicated anymore with door control modules etc, that sometimes you need a scan tool to fix a power window. I experienced that in my service ops class on a 2000 Bonneville, and had to use a Tech 2 to see that the request was being sent to the BCM and then back to the motor. Ended up being a broken power wire for the motor in the door jam connector…
