My wife drives a 2014 Honda CR-V, in the last 25k miles she has had 2 rims that cracked on the weld on the same back right tire. Both times we just replaced the whole rim and the second time I had the tire repair place check around the area for any defects that would cause this issue. The only thing I’ve seen to help remedy this is to weld the crack instead of replace the whole rim for a cheaper option. Has anyone else had anything like this happen? I’ve asked around to family and friends and they’ve never had a rim crack. Are these any suggestions for quick fixes or things to consider replacing if we have a third cracked rim?

Not a common occurrence in my experience. Also, welding aluminum is tricky and requires a specialized set up to do correctly. What I do see is tire fitters not cleaning the rims before installing tires causing leaks. That is very common.
