      First time poster :)!
Watched almost all of erics videos on hondas as i always work on my own and friends!

Well i have this problem you know when you turn? you can let go of your steering wheel while accelerating through a turn and the wheel tends to straighten itself back up? well my car wont it moves slightly back about half a turn and that’s it and the car would keep turning? It was not always like this, it actually started after i brought my car to get tracking done, boom perfect car drives straight when i let go of the wheel steering is straight but wont center itself back? also the steering feels lighter now too because of it. I recently replaces inner and outer tie rods except for one outer as it was almost new anyways, replaced a lower ball joint only 1 again because i recently changed the drivers side (right side as i live in ireland) less than 6-7months ago checked it and its fine, both upper control arms where changed too on both sides (i know that’s probably nothing got to do with it but one side needed to be done so i did both), there is no play in either wheel left or right no leaks from the rack nothing… It bothers me now because i drove my friends EK earlier today and his steering WHIPS right back to center as your turning can almost feel it pulling the car back to center, feels a lot nicer and more relaxed to drive. also i know caster is usually the problem but there is no way of adjusting it on these and it was not ALWAYS a problem untill the tracking was done the new inner track rods are alot stiffer than the last ones that where in they would kinda flop when you take them out these will stay up in the air if u leave them there as i thought they should be? i am puzzled and annoyed

Any help is greatly appreciated and i don’t really like going to a shop as for them to have a look and probably not find it or tell me this and that i replace it and nothing is 50 euro charge to have it on the ramp for like 10 minutes…

Also tyres where recently changed all 4 195/50/R16s all brand new 480 euro car is lowered 60mm on apexi springs, and also the car is not loosing and power steering fluid.

Normally this would be an alignment issue. Specifically a problem with the caster angle. This is the forward or backward tilt of the suspension in relation to the centerline of the wheel. Think of a shopping cart wheel. No matter what direction you drive the cart, the wheel will follow. It’s similar for your vehicle. BTW, there is no adjustment for this on your vehicle. If your suspension is assembled properly, it should be at factory spec where the caster angle is concerned. That is unless you’ve lowered the vehicle or modified it in some way.

It sounds like you’ve been doing some work on the front end. I would suspect it’s either the parts you used, or how they were installed that’s at issue. I’d be paying particular attention to the tie rods you installed. If they’re too stiff, they won’t be able to move properly. Same goes for the ball joints.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Hey eric! 🙂 yeah the car has been lowered and i know you don’t like modified cars so much but they’re not over the top body is stock wheels are stock just repainted as i think they go nice with the black, but anyways! (pic for interest!) 🙂

the alignment was done and that is when the problem started to occur? (we call it tracking over here) it was only after that i noticed the wheel wouldn’t really center itself after and steering was lighter, also parts used are not second hand and all brand new parts, they are stiffer but not so stiff you have to put muscle into it as they’re brand new.

I am really confused as to what else it could be and hoping it’s not the steering rack..

Also how would i diagnose a bad steering rack? what are the things to look for when checking it? are there any other factors that come into play other than these parts?
