The Sprint bar looks like the Newspeed bar. But it didn’t come with any instructions.
I spend 4 hours with the front end jacked up and not, but still can’t get it on.
Basically I take the 4 bolts on both sides. One UCA bolt and a strut bolt on each side. Fish in the passenger’s side then try driver’s side. If I don’t put the bolt loosely on one side then putting on the other side then this side comes off. If I leave the bolts on then I can’t get the other side on. It’s about half an inch off. I guess I am not strong enough to pull it across?
How do you guys do it? Some advice? Does yours just drop in easily or you have to pull hard? I jacked the whole front end up and still can’t do it.
This is the bar that I bought: http://www.ebay.com/itm/120836410712?ss … 1497.l2649

      Thanks.

I’m not exactly sure why you aren’t able to install that strut bar, but I am wondering why you want to install that on a stock Accord. Your car isn’t exactly going to smoke the tires anyway. I think those are more intended for high performance applications where the unit-body might twist due to excessive amounts of power made by a seriously modded engine.

Actually quite a few with stock engine feel the dramatic improvement with the bar on. Probably b/c the car is old and any stiffness is good. But I have driven my buddy’s car and it handles well with the bar on. His is stock height and engine. 91 Accord.

Ok, you got me there. I’ve never actually installed a strut bar on my 1.6L powered Geo Prizm. I’ve been looking at threads for you, but I haven’t found anything yet. Are you sure you have the right one? Can you lay the bar on the car and get it to fit with no fasteners attached? Have you tried doing it with the car on the ground? If the car’s struts are loaded with weight, removing a bolt on each won’t make the car’s struts go flying.

Edit: I actually re-read your original post, and it seems like you have tried it both ways. If you are sure you have the right brace, then maybe get a buddy to push down on the non-fastened end while you mount it up.

You don’t need to jack the car for this job ( better if you don’t ) sometimes in the manufacturing process of the strut bar the heat from the welder will cause the metal parts being welded to contract leaving the component slightly ” short ” you said it was off by about 1/2 inch ( with one side mounted ) here is what to do- with one side mounted make sure the bolt holes in the strut bar are indeed in line with the mounting bolts ( yes , I realize they are 1/2 ” off ) now remove it from the car secure it in a vice ( or some other way ) and smack the bar a few times with a BFH on the mounting bars ( the parts that attach to the strut tower ) then try again , keep checking till you are where it needs to be , then install. in this world of mass production sometimes parts need to ” adjusted ” LOL

Thanks guys. 619DioFan, I thought of that idea about using the rubber mallet. I was afraid of damaging the frame or scratch it to death. Others that have installed the bar, said that it’s suppose to go on tough so it will keep the strut towers together. The best bars are usually one piece and the bolts it goes on is upper control arm and strut bolt. I realize that I am not strong enough and probably out of shape for being out of work since June. When I was work as a manager at Harbor Freight, I was lifting heavy stuff all day. I am going to wait until next weekend, hopefully my big buddy will be off 2 days so I can come over for him to flex his muscles. He used to work with me and he always lift and move those gigantic 21 gallon compressors by himself. We usually get 12 of them. But we didn’t have any room so he stack them by himself. So I think he can stretch it a little.
This Sprint bar is identical to the Neuspeed for $150 new. Sprint stuffs used to be real good in the early 2000 and later 1990s. Made in the USA help our country a little. But it’s out of business already.
I’ll sleep on it for a while. Lol.

I agree, don’t do it with the car jacked up as it will make it much harder to install, not many people realize how much body flex there is in most cars these days hence the reason installing the strut bar will improve your handling.

I use the rubber mallet and hammer the heck out of the bar and got only 1/4″ closer. I don’t have a vice thus makes the hammering more difficult. I just lay the bar down, and hold one side and hammer the other on the curves of the bar. Still can’t get it on yet. So I’ll try it again in few days. Going to the job fair tomorrow.
                    Thanks.
