Hi. I have recently bought a 2000 Civic with 80,000 miles which has never had a new timing belt.
It has a D series 1.6 VTEC engine.

I am planning to do the timing belt myself & wondered if the B-series V-manual would be of any help? Are there many similarities or are they completely different?

      Many thanks for any help.

Not really. The D series is a different engine. That said, I do have footage of the replacement of the belt on that engine. Unfortunately, I still don’t have time to edit it. I do hope to get to that soon, but things keep coming up. You might find this helpful though.

Just got this B series video for my 97 CRV (timing belt broke right before I could replace it :pinch:) and had to comment! The trick for tightening the belt tension by holding onto the cam sprocket got rid of all the slop I was getting by following the factory service manual.

I was able to get the head off, replace a bent exhaust valve, do the timing belt and valve adjustment thanks to the resources here! I’m very happy to have this car running before the snow comes. Thanks, Eric!

Thanks very much for your comments. I’m very glad to hear the video was so helpful to you. It is true that setting the belt tension on that engine can be tricky. It’s nice to hear my little trick worked for you. That said, if you wouldn’t mind copy and pasting this to the page where the VManual is sold I would appreciate it very much. Testimonials like this help others understand the value of the video.

Thanks again and have a great day.
