Hello Ericthecarguy, I’m a longtime viewer. I need anv opinion on my 1997 Chevy S10, I had it taken to a shop in Las Vegas, and they did a compression test on my truck. The shop says my engine needs a rebuild, and I wonder what you might think. Is a rebuild in order or could be a head gasket? My name is Brian.

A compression and leak down test would give you a pretty good insight on the internal mechanical health of the engine.I’m no technician by any means, but I’d say if they’re seeing compression loss of some sort, then a leak down test would help pinpoint where the lost compression is going.
