Engine swapping a sunfire

I have been contemplating on an engine swap for my 99 sunfire gt. I don’t know what engine(s) would “fit” without heavy mods to motor mounts or the engine bay. Also I have no idea aside from the obvious parts like, engine, trans, ecu, and wiring harness, on what else I would need or the cost outside of those parts. Also does anyone think it would be worth the time and money? I guess in Eric’s words I want to make a slow car fast instead of a fast car faster! 😉 opinions please?

well its got the 2.2 4 banger with 5 spd gonna slap some performance plugs n wires n coil packs cold air intake 3 inch exhaust for now eventually maybe turbo and other things just something to play around with basically… not really lookin for a ten second car……yet lol

there is the gm 3.8 out of a impala police intercepter that is a possibility. slap a turbo on it and a few other fairly inexpesive mods. wont be super fast, but fast enough to screw with. that engine is built to make a 4000 pound car + all the police equipment and driver to be fast. just saying it might be something to look in to.

oh man that engine in a teeny tiny sunfire that would be a definate sleeper noone would see that coming till all they saw were tail lights
