      hi y’all,

**please let me know if I’m not posting in the right place, i’m new here, thanks!**

I’m going to help my friend replace her car battery on a Honda Accord 03. I already tried jump starting the car the other day. The car started again (i.e., the problem is most likely the battery and nothing else), but it didn’t start the next day again…so it’s time to replace the battery is what I’m thinking.

I know the Accord 03 uses a Duralast 51R/DLG battery, which fits the bracket and hold-down perfectly. But I’m not sure if I can purchase one in Canada, if anyone has any suggestions of where/how to do so? OR, if I can’t get a Duralast are there any other similar viable battery options that may fit the frame without having to buy more brackets/hold-downs (maybe Walmart Maxx? Costco Kirkland??)

      Thanks!

Honestly, not a fan of Duralast. That said, I’d go for the Honda battery if you can get your hands on one. They often have a better warranty than anything else and don’t corrode the battery terminals. That said, I think that year actually had a Delco battery in it but I’m not sure in Canada. Also, probably not a bad idea to load test the battery just to make sure that’s what the issue is. You’re probably right, but it’s good to have some evidence to back up your theory.

Also avoid the cheap (and crappy) Canadian Tire batteries, heard lots of problems reported with them. Have an AC Delco in my ’87 Corolla, immediately starts opposed to the no-start condition the Canadian Tire battery caused in it + fits perfectly. Have also received recommendations for NAPA batteries in Canada, apparently they’re very good with warranties and fit correctly.
