Hey Eric, thanks for all you do on here and the YouTube channel. I’ve spent a lot of time watching your videos and have learnt a lot!

I wanted to ask you this question as you used to work for Acura. When changing timing belts on b-series engines, did you replace the tensioner at the same time?

I’ve heard and read that it is recommended to change the water pump too. What is your opinion on this?

I have the manual for my car and it says nothing about inspecting, let alone replacing the tensioner.

      Thanks,
      Tom

If it were me I would replace the tensioner.

          Thanks for the advice.

I’ve bought an OE belt & tensioner.

I am not going to replace the waterpump, it’s only done about 68,000 miles. I can’t really afford to replace it right now.

I didn’t realize so much time had passed between both of your posts. I misunderstood that whole thing. Sorry.

                It gave me a laugh anyhow….. 😳

To save time down the road and as preventative maintenance replace the water pump, tensioner and belt. I’ve done just a belt for someone before and insisted that they get the tensioner and pump but no. 6 months later the water pump seized and ripped the belt and toasted the motor.
