Here we go again…My Tahoe @ 162812 miles had some noises that sounded like a mini jack hammer or hammer drill coming from either the AC compressor or AC belt tension pulley. eventually the ac belt tension pulley failed and broke off. Upon examination, the rotation part or the pulley assembly was cracked, several pieces broke off. The rest was in pieces. I took it to my mechanic. He replaced the belt, the tension pulley. A few days later its, still making the hammer drill noise, just intermittently. Still cool inside the truck. Also…while the the A/C compressor is running the truck runs rough. a mild case of the shakes. A noticeable vibration. When the compressor is off the truck runs smooth again. When I say compressor I mean when the AC clutch is engaged and spinning. This truck is seriously starting to stress me just a bit…Should I recover the coolant and replace the compressor or could there be another cause? By the way…the A/C belt tension pulley was already replaced this year, 3 months ago.
