I am having some issues with my 2007 Honda Odyssey. I am hearing a popping noise coming from the drivers side of the car when I turn left and right while moving. It seems worse when I turn right. Most of the noise comes when the steering wheel is turned at full lock. Noises increases slightly with acceleration when the wheel is at full lock. No noises when turn the wheel to full lock while parked.
I checked all the tie rods and ball joints and they look intact. I checked the CV axles and they look good with no tears in the boots and no evidence of leakage on both. Front shocks/struts are brand new. I haven’t check the motor mounts yet.
No problems or noises driving down the road and making regular turns. There is a little bit of clunking when hitting bumps. Put the front end on jacks stands and turned the wheel to the left and right with full lock, but I didn’t hear any noise at all. I only hear the noise when the van was on the ground with full weight and turning to just about full lock in both directions while moving. I was thinking cv joints, but I wanted to ask your opinion. I wasn’t sure because the axles look good with no tears. Doesn’t seem to add up. What do you think?
Just to recap:
1. Popping noise while turning to full lock (Right and Left) and while moving and under full weight.
2. No noise while parked and turning to full lock (Right and Left)
3. No noise while on jacks stands and turning to full lock (Right and Left)
4. Noise increases when turning right and with acceleration
5. Minor clunking when hitting bumps. Thanks for the help.
