      I like the idea of spot welding the nut to the frame however, could a rivet nut been used instead? This was a perfect application for the use of a rivet nut provided the material was not too thick.

      Thoughts?

        Possibly, but keep in mind the size was 10x 1.25. Also, the ‘frame’ is pretty thick in that area. It might not work.

            Rivet nuts can often be just as strong/secure as spot welding, provided the rivet nut is properly set into the material. drift hunters
