I had to install a new ECU* in my 1999 Honda Accord EX 4 cyl sedan. Given the year, I wasn’t sure if it would have an immobilizer function. I installed a matching ECU from a salvage yard, and. turns out, it does. WIth the new ECU installed, the fuel pump doesn’t engage. (I tried switching the old ECU back in, and fuel pump works fine.)
It’s a ways to a dealer, so I called a locksmith. He says he can program new keys to a honda, but isn’t sure about whether he can do this. He’s willing to try if I accept responsibility for any damages. That’s fair to me, but if possibly I’d like a better idea about whether this will work or not. He says if the ECU needs reflashed, he knows he can’t do that.
Anyone know more about this?
