I want to buy this used rental car from a dealer. This car has 33k miles which were put on in 1 year. The car runs perfectly. If I brought this car to a mechanic for him to check out, is there a test to see if any foreseen problems with the engine could be ruled out? I just want to have a piece of mind that no damage to the engine has occurred due to all the heavy miles put on this car within 1 year.

      Thanks!

A compression and leak down test can give you a good indication of the state of the engine.
Though there is no real promise that the engine can not have a mechanical failure at any point.
I would also have the transmission, brakes, cooling system and suspension system checked out.

Scotty Kilmer discusses this on his channel.

His advice: avoid. Because rentals are usually abused.
