Had one a few years ago. Very basic unit. Can not read all codes or systems, but it is a good basic unit. If you have an iPhone you can get Lemur’s Blue Driver. http://www.lemurmonitors.com/BlueDriver.html

🙂 The choice of a tool like this scan tool depends on what you need it for. A basic model, like the one you are looking at will tell you a code and let you turn off the check engine light. A more deluxe model will record live data and go to the internet for information for you. As with all things, you get what you pay for. If you buy cheap, you will get cheap, but, if that is all you need, then it will work.

          Never had one.

I bought me some no-name knock off brand from Strap-On, and then made him give me back my money to get a way better MATCO MD70.

I’ll tell you what’s annoying as all hell: $2,000 GM Tech2 wants you to pick year, make, platform, model, engine, with/out air pump, with/out heated seats, radio type, manual/auto HVAC… The list goes on.

Plug in my $225 MATCO scanner: Year, make, model, engine, stick shift or auto? Most of the time, it reads the fucking VIN and asks you to verify. Needless to say: I only use GM scanners for their diagnostic functions.
