Bedlined the rocker panels, grille and ARB bumper. Turned out nice!
Here some progress pictures. I’ll take some final pictures when I re-assemble everything.

Got about 1/2 gallon left.
How does HERCULINER hold up to unpainted plastic. I was thinking of doing the fender flares.
Welcome!
So I’m working on prepping the bumper for the herculiner. It says herculiner sticks best to painted/primered metal and not to rust. So there was a bunch of rust spots on the bumper that I primered, but every time I go to sand it comes off!
Followed the instructions on the primer can. It says it can be sanded after 4 hours of dry time, I let it stay overnight. Cleaned the area with mineral spirits BEFORE applying the primer, just like it says on the can.
Any ideas? Does it need more than 1 coat to sand? I want to make sure the herculiner sticks and doesn’t peel off.
Very interesting. That would definitely answer the question, “what happening in my engine?” and “what kind of condition is my engine in?”
Seems worth it for $30. Might give them a try.
The only 2 engines I’ve had the opportunity to work on are the Jeep 3.7L V6 DOHC and the Jeep 4.0 Inline 6. Both great and strong engines. Love the torque on the 4.0L and its easier to do most of the routine maintenance versus the 3.7L.
Haha…you live you learn I guess. You could try to sell them on eBay or something. Keep up the good work. I would like to see some more Jeep builds on here. You know what they say, once you get a Jeep you can never go back.
FYI, NAPA is running an awesome promo on the 1 gallon kit of Herculiner. I picked it up for $65+tax and there is a $25 mail in rebate. Might go back for a second gallon for the rockers and fender flares (maybe a 3rd gallon…lol)

[url=http://postimg.org/image/u8gy9xv0f/]You sure put some work into the Jeep. Love those Grands, greats vehicles. I got myself a Liberty with a few goodies and my dad has a 2000 Grand completely stock. Want to get my hands on it and lift it and put some bigger tires, but he wants it stock. Boring. Enjoy it.
The high mileage oils have extra additives in it to help with older seals. I wouldn’t stress about it. Just change it on time and use the right viscosity, filter and capacity.
Thank you all for your help. As it turns out there was a TSB released from Chrysler to switch from PS Fluid to ATF4. The fluid was a light pink so I went ahead and flushed the system. Pretty easy job and had some extra ATF4 in the garage from servicing the transfer case last month. Now its a nice cherry red.
Also, I apologize if I offended any mechanics out there. I’m just not used to anyone working on my Jeep.
Thanks, college man.
haha….thanks. I only questioned it, because that is exactly the spot it was leaking from previously and there wasn’t a crimp there before the repair.
Now, they did did top it off with ATF instead of PS fluid which is what the manual calls for. Is that something I should be concerned with?
