The P0740 code just came on in my car. It has something to do with the torque converter solenoid. How do I fix this? My transmission shifts fine! Please Help

You will need a gauge for checking line pressure as well as a wiring diagram so you can perform electrical tests on the TCC circuit.

Should I erase it to see if it comes back?

Try that. Some times it does not come back. I get codes once in while with both of my car and after clearing, never came back. Maybe the computers are mad that I turn them away or figure I am too cheap and unemployed to have money to fix them. Lol.

Can we get more info about the car?

Ok. I’ve cleared the code and I will replace it the fluid for the 3rd time. I’ve changed it twice in the past 2 months. But after I change it I will check the solenoid out. By the way Eric, which solenoid would be the TCC solenoid? I know that there is 2 solenoids on my transmission. Would it be the lock-up solenoid?

I don’t know if there is an easy ‘fix’ for that if I’m honest, you might try clearing the code and changing the fluid using Honda fluid but if that doesn’t work then you’ll have to follow the service procedure on checking the TCC solenoid (I’m afraid I don’t know that at this time) if the solenoid is good then you’ll probably have to replace the torque converter and the seals going to the TCC.

Actually I think there are 4 solenoids but to be honest I don’t know which one is for the TCC however I did find this PDF that identifies the different Honda transmission solenoids that might help.

Ok thanks Eric. Your the best! Also scottykilmer told me from his experiences, the solenoids on honda go out quite frequently.
