Finding and Fixing Leaks
Finding and Fixing Fluid Leaks
I get asked about fluid leaks all the time. Fluid leaks are among the most common problems you encounter with your vehicle. Fluid leaks can range from annoying to life threatening, so it’s a good idea to keep an eye out for them and repair them when you find them. In this article, we’ll talk about some of the more common fluids that might leak from your vehicle. We’ll also talk about low fluid levels with no visible leaks and their possible causes. So let’s get started by identifying what that fluid dripping under your vehicle might be.

Hey Eric, love your channel. Long time viewer before I even owned a honda. Ive been watching your videos and I have been getting my 2007 honda odyssey exl res/nav back in good running order. but I keep trying to use the honda bond with little success. I looked around and have you heard: someone made an oil pan gasket for the j-series honda engines? what do you think about these and would you be willing to do a video review? thanks and stay dirty!

With Hondabond, clean the surface. You can’t have oil on the surface you are trying to seal. Lastly, Hondabond needs time to set up. I recommend letting it sit overnight before exposing it to oil. OR you could do what I did with the Pilot engine and use an anaerobic sealer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbHVvFVU-Eg

You don’t mention the kind of leak that I have. I have a 2008 4Runner V/8 with a significant exhaust leak at the manifold. I’ve seen online that it’s a common problem with Toyota’s. I can’t tell if the gasket is bad or the exhaust manifold is cracked. Do you have any suggestions? The dealer wants $1400.00 per side to fix it.
