Sounds like you might need a new key lock cylinder. Also, double check the wiring to the remote start and the ignition switch, make sure everything is okay.

If I read you right and you can’t get the key physically past the point where it goes to crank it could very well be the ignition lock cylinder but if it can go to crank but it’s just not cranking the engine you might check to see if the signal wire coming out of the ignition switch is working by checking for voltage at the wire when you turn it to crank, if it isn’t it may be just the electrical part of the ignition switch and not the mechanical part.

Could be the lock cylinder, Are you sure the shifter is all the way in park? Pull it up and push it forward, you’ll feel it lock in position.

I have checked it in park. Same thing with when in neutral it won’t do anything. So I am thinking it’s not the shifter. Plus that if the shifter and neutral safety switch were out of adjustment, then the remote starter wouldn’t work either. At Eric, the ignition doesn’t even feel like it’s turning to the start position. Just the ON/Run position. I know that there is a cable that runs down the colum from the ignition, to somewhere into the nether regions that is the dash. How hard is it to replace the lock cylinder on a vehicle with an airbag?

Still in the process of trying to fix this vehicle. Any one?

I haven’t been into one of those columns in a while so I couldn’t say for sure but if memory serves there is actually a rod that goes down the column for the ignition switch and it’s a pain to try and fix. Your application may be very different however but it does sound like an issue with the ignition lock cylinder or it’s linkage.
