First off, Thank you in advance for any help i can get on this. i have a 1998 jeep grand Cherokee 5.2 L 2wd Automatic transmission. it has just over 212K on the odom. while driving one day i noticed a vibration the felt like was coming from the middle section back but no check engine light. so i got it home and checked the rear diff fluid, all looked good so i put fresh fluid and sealed it up. went to start it up and immediately got a check engine light. Got out my reader and got the following codes.

p0320 (powertrain ignition/distributor Engine speed input circuit)
p0340 (camshaft position sensor ‘A’ Circuit bank 1 or single sensor,
p0545 Exhaust Gas Temperatuure Sesor Circuit Low (bank 1)
Pending Fault P0740 Torque Converter Clutch circuit
      Pending Fault P1391 Speed sensor

I took it to my mechanic that i use when i cant figure stuff out, he said he adjusted the throttle position sensor and found a bad vacuum line and fixed that. now while driving it to him to have him look at it, it did something else…whenever i would slow down to let someone turn into a shopping parking lot but not stop…i would let them turn then hit the gas to speed up, i would hear / feel a large bang in the back like i just got rear ended. The mechanic said it was most likely and issue in the transmission and he suggested i seek out a transmission specialist.
My gut feeling is that it is somehow electrical / electronic since all those codes came on at once. Could there be a link to all these codes? i did speak to a transmission specialist and they weren’t sure but did say it could be a stretched timing chain. So as you can see the answers are all over the place. I have cleared the codes and the same ones come back within 15 mins of driving it. The vibration is still there when going 50 and above.
Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

If you accelerate and you get revs but no go, then BANG and it moves, that is internal damage in the rear differential. You can remove the cover again and spin the wheels to watch the ring gear spin fully, I’m willing to bet there is visible damage.
You can put it in park, have a friend sit in the driver’s seat, you lay down with a flashlight in good view of the driveshaft at the rear differential, have the driver put it in drive. Did the driveshaft spin a full revolution or more without making the truck move? If so, the diff is seriously damaged.

It doesnt rev when it bangs. Its like someone just rear ended while driving. When i opened the diff, the ring gear looked perfect, no chips or pitting.

Sounds like a transmission problem, and some of your codes are transmission related.
