      Hello All,

Does anyone have any knowledge of where to find the size of front brake rotors for a ’99 Civic EX sedan with ABS? Apparently at my local O’Reilly’s there are two sizes of Bosch QuietCast rotors, 240mm and 262mm. I have no way of knowing if the shop that replaced my previous set of rotors replaced them with the correct size or not. I could measure them and buy that size, I just want to make sure i have the correct size because I know it’s about a 1″ difference between the 240 and 262.
Also, any advice on ceramic vs. semi metallic pads? I heard ceramics heat the rotors more and cause them to warp quicker than semi-metallics but the SM’s leave more dust.

      Thanks!

If I am not mistaken, the two rotors not only are different across, but each are different sizes in the hat, those cars had two different size hubs. just go with the size you have. As for ceramic pads, I never had a problem with heat, last few years, I put them on about everything, lasted longer, quieter, cleaner.

As already suggested, go with the size you have, that being said. Sometimes you just have to pull them off and physically measure them. I’m looking at parts listings and there doesn’t seem to be much rhyme or reason to the sizing. Just be happy there’s only 2 sizes that are a fair bit different.

Save yourself some headache, buy Brembo rotors (OEM rotor supplier for Honda/Acura) from an online wholesaler such as Rockauto.com. They’ll last longer and be able to be turned unlike the Bosch pieces of crap sold by most parts stores. Also ceramics all the way-brake dust is worse for the health of the rotors, calipers, and of course YOU the end user.

EDIT: Just checked my FSM (I have a ’98 Civic)-the EX has 262, the LX/DX/HX has the 240. Look around on the internet for the FSM for ’96-’00 Civics it’ll save you some headaches in the future
