I have a 2000 Honda Odyssey with 234000 miles. I recently had an EGR insufficient flow code. I removed the intake manifold and cleaned it thoroughly. I also removed the EGR valve and thoroughly cleaned the channel with carb cleaner and a small, thin furnace brush. I successfully removed all the carbon deposits. I replaced the EGR valve gasket as well. I know have a p1491 insufficient EGR Lift code. I don’t know if I should replace the valve, or if something else could be triggering this code. I am welcome to suggestions.

      Thank you.

I didn’t missed any parts, but thank you. Any other ideas please let me know. I’m looking for a diagnostic procedure for the EGR valve to asses the lift its getting. My service manual doesn’t do the best of jobs. If you can think of a better resource let me know. Thanks

Sounds like you need an EGR valve. Honestly, all you need to clean is the passages. The valve itself hardly ever has a problem but when it does you get the code you listed.
