There is no way to know that until you get it scanned and post the codes here so we can see them. The traction control system uses information it gets from the ABS wheel speed sensors to determine if it needs to take action. The wheel speed sensors are also monitored by the ABS for the same reason. If a fault of any kind exists in the ABS system, it defaults to normal braking and turns on the light. If the ABS isn’t working traction control isn’t either.

The first step is going to find out what codes are stored in your ABS module and then go from there to start diagnosing the issue.

A basic scan tool will not do ABS codes to check the traction control i will have to goto the dealer and pay a small fortune for them to hook a special scan tool and find the issue — or so i was told

CarMD won’t help you here, I believe that’s only set up for CEL codes. If you’ve disabled the ABS and TCS this is most likely the reason the light is on.

If that’s the case something may be broken and you need to pull the codes to find out where to start looking.

It depends on what exactly wrong with the vehicle. There is no way of really knowing until the vehicle is given to a tech to test drive then diagnose.
