2001 F150 Gas Tank Replacement

……This is Dad’s Truck. 5.4 engine, auto, 125K miles and very rusty. Shop quoted him $538 to replace the gas tank. 24 gal tank. Tank costs about $200 roughly and there rates runs about $80/hr. This is from an independent shop.

We’ve never had to replace a gas tank in any vehicle before so this is all news to us. $538 seems pretty stiff but if you pros can help crunch the numbers better maybe we can have a better understanding of it.
