Hello,
I had a “Check VSC” and “ABS” warning light a while ago. I pulled the code and got a “C0205” code which translates as “Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor”.
I ordered a new OEM hub and sensor assembly from Lexus but never got time to change it out. After a while, the message went away but a new one came back – “C0200” – which translates as “Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor”.
I checked the part number with Toyota and it seems as though the left and right front wheel speed sensors use the same part, so I decided to use the part that I ordered (for the left sensor) to replace the right.
Right after I had installed the new part (nightmare due to the hub seizing to the knuckle), I got the same C0200 code with an additional C1223 “ABS Current Malfunction in ABS control system”.
What I am wondering is whether these sensors are directional somehow and that the computer thinks the right front wheel is going backwards. I heard someone did something similar, but not for this vehicle. If it is directional, is there a way to reverse the direction electronically?
I’d like to be reasonably sure somehow before I order another hub and sensor assembly costing $300-$400 dollars and repeat the installation another 2 times.
