      Hello all,

I’m trying to change the PCV valve on my Verona and I think I’ve found it but I would like to confirm this is actually the valve before I go digging in. I believe it sits just underneath the EGR valve at the top left of the engine. Hopefully someone will be familiar with the vehicle. Thank you!

If you could take a picture and post it that would be helpful. To be honest I’m not familiar with that engine so I really can’t say. Some modern engines don’t have PCV valves however they run a set of baffles in the valve cover instead. Your engine may not have a replaceable PCV valve.

After removing the EGR valve I was able to get to the PCV valve just where I thought it was. Is it normal for it to be covered in oil?

I replaced the pcv valve and my rough idle is gone. Should I look at anything else since the pcv valve was oil-covered?

The oil may be due to the engine being older and perhaps a little worn. The more worn an engine gets the more blow by at the piston rings and that usually equates to the PCV system having to work a bit harder to keep up. The PCV is designed to provide pressure release to the inside of the engine as well as reroute the crank case gasses back into the intake to be re-burned.

So I changed out the PCV valve with no issues and my rough idle is gone. Well, was gone. Now I have an issue with an oil leak. Looks like it’s spewed everywhere. I have a bit of oil pooled up around the spark plugs. Am I looking at a valve cover gasket? This engine has 170000+ miles on it.

It’s impossible for us to say where the leak is coming from without looking at the vehicle. That said clean the suspected area and then look to see if you can find the leak. If you still have trouble you might put dye in the oil as that can help you find a hard to find leak.
