2007 sentra s 2.0L idles rough in gear

I have a Nissan Sentra that idles rough when i put it in gear. I was on another forum where it was suggested this problem could be caused by aftermarket alternator which i believe mine is. What amperage rating do i need for this car. I believe the electric motor in the CVT transmission sucks up lots of power-which could explain it I guess.
