      Hello all.

      I did a head job on my 87 Accord and after re-assembly It is misfiring, and I can’t get the timing right. Supposed to be 24 Degrees Before TDC .

      The distributor will not rotate far enough to get it there . Is my distributor bad, or is the timing between the crankshaft and
      cam off? . (the distributor is rotated directly by the camshaft and i did pull and plug the vacuum lines from the vacuum advance before using the timing light)
      I’m not sure if the engine would even run with the timing off by 1 or 2 teeth.
      any advice would be appreciated.

        I would recheck the cam and crank timing marks as it sounds like they may be slightly off. once they are verified reinstall the distributor. I wouldn’t suspect a bad distributor unless you had an issue with it prior to the head removal.

            I agree with Dio. If you didn’t specifically mark the distributor position, a couple teeth could cause the issue you are experiencing.

              I’m pretty sure your timing marks are off between the cam and crank I would go back and recheck them. I don’t think that distributor has ‘teeth’ so much as a keyway that only goes in one way so I would go back and check your timing marks first as that is where you will likely find the problem in my opinion.
