in my sig last i paid attencion it had 116k on it
i have disabled the air bags i have heard meny horror stories on air bags cost to replace if i didnt disable would be more then the car is worth
December 2, 2012 at 11:39 am #482003I’m sure you’ll figure out how to get those air bags out. I mean you tear dashes apart in those caprices all the time with no problem right?
December 2, 2012 at 11:46 am #482026If I were you I would NOT disable an air bag, it could save your life and that is worth more then any air bag or car.
December 2, 2012 at 12:01 pm #482030+1 on that

as i stated below (or above) depending on you forum layout preference “i have disabled the air bags i have heard many horror stories on air bags” ive had 2 family members who were badly injured by the Air Bags one of which is still suffering from the Air Bag injuries to this day and the accident happened 12 years ago. If it was NOT for those airbags that person WOULD NOT be suffering from those injuries today.
even if u buy a brand new 2013 vehicle if the airbags deploy the insurance company WILL NOT fix it they will total the car.

You are thinking of someone else. I have never worked on owned or rode in a Carprice nor have i ever taken a dash apart.
December 2, 2012 at 10:15 pm #482134For your air bags, i would consult a service manual.
The oil burn smell, i would be checking for leaks or oil seepage from the top of the engine coming into contact with your exhaust manifold as an example.
Thread also cleaned up for trolling.

there is no oil puddle on the ground and no leaking that i can see ive already looked
December 2, 2012 at 10:45 pm #482154Did you look into your tail pipe? If you run your finger inside and there is an ‘oily’ type sediment on your finger, you need to be looking at potential misfire issues.
I would do a compression test (dry then wet) next.
Keep us posted.

never tried stickin’ my finger into the asshole of a car LOL (sorry couldnt resist). If i was a misfire wouldnt it be tripping the CEL? how would a misfire smell like boiling oil?
December 2, 2012 at 11:22 pm #482180Hahaha!
All vehicles will ‘miss’ when cold, more so 4 cylinders as they fire at 180deg of revolution.
And if it is a severe miss, it will smell of unburnt fuel and cause a CEL.
I would do some more investigating.
Good luck.

well the impala has the GM 3800 Series II V6. I always thought a misfire was causin the CEL in the Daewoo to trigger until i got the shop i goto to scan the codes free for me and it cam back a CPS code that surprised me as the plugs do need changing i know when plugs on a car need changing. I just have not gotten around to it. I meant to replace them this summer but it didnt happen. since i do not have a scan tool will replacing the CPS and plug shut the light off itself? dont really wanna disconnect the battery
December 3, 2012 at 12:32 am #482193When the cause of a code goes away, the light usually stays on for a couple ignition cycles.

i thought i would take advice i have Checked the CV boots (oh whatever boots are directly behind the tyres) and they are firm no cracks or leaks that i can feel (cant get in there to SEE) it will only thump while stopped it DOES NOT thump while driving. I feel vibration in the wheel and my ass while stopped. I will replace the plugs in the spring.
I did notice a sound (drive in silence) while stopping i hear a whirr/hum in the front wheels while driving there is no sound. Is that normal? -
