I’ve heard of it being used in supercharged and turbocharged cars because of the higher compression ratio, the engine is able to take a better advantage of acetone.

This was used back in the 60’s as a racing fuel additive and is unsafe for your engine, you should avoid it as it is just another snake-oil treatment with a false hope of better MPG.

Toluene works a lot better for raising octane and won’r damage fuel system parts.

Acetone only eats up styrofoam . Not fuel lines. A guy on utube did a test of acetone soaked car parts wires hoses seals they were covered up. Acetone evaporated but things were unharmed.

I would say NO DO NOT PUT ACETONE IN YOUR TANK at all. Acetone eats chemical resistant plastic and degrades it in smaller quantities leading to parts breaking over time.:stick: Thats why it comes in METAL containers. When I have time I’ll list some good fuel additives that enhance combustion while preserving parts in your fuel system.

Higher compression engines require less volatile fuels. Jets for example use what really is just kerosine, hence adding jet fuel to the tank of you 16:5 to one monster v8 back in the day. Try (no don’t really just an example) burning gasoline in a diesel engine with direct injection and see what happens :woohoo: .
