im posting this about a friends s10. its a 2.2 4 banger 5 speed not sure what year i think late 90s maybe earlier 2k. but any way heres the problem, theres no heat in the cabin the temp gauge doesnt go over a quarter. there is VERY little heat in the cabin. ive watched erics videos on these situation but its currently in the teens here in mass. so far weve replaced the thermostat and bleed the cooling. i know the blower motor works but i still havent checked for a clogged heater core. but being that the temp in the engine isnt going up its not just that. im wondering if there is a blockage somewhere? i know that the dex cool used in that truck caused quite a few issues. has any one else encountered this or similar problems? or have any thoughts on how to fix this?

funny side note my other friend has a 328is with a similar problem but that one does get up to temp but i believe its the return line for the overflow which was copped to bits by the rad fan… so new fan, rad, water pump, thermostat ect ect

thank in advance for any thoughts and opinions

I would start by feeling the heater hoses when truck is at operating temp. Be careful, they do get hot, and feel is both are hot. do not run the heater fan because that would cool one of the hoses as air passes through the core.. They both should be hot if not you may have a blocked heater core. If it checks out ok then I would check the blend door that diverts the air though the heater core to give you heat. One thing I had once was when I would turn the knob to heat, it would not turn the shaft on the switch all the way to heat side because the knob was cracked and would spin on the shaft but not rotate it. good luck and hope this gives you a starting point.

but thats just it the truck doesnt get up to temp at all it gets up to about 110 then drops when youre moving so i dont think its the heater core i think theres an issue in the motor it self ill have to check the hoses next time i see him any way just to see which if any are getting hot
