CR-V Brake Issue

      Hey everyone,

      I have a 2013 CR-V with 31,000 miles. I just bought the car a few months back (Certified Pre-Owned).

The brakes seem to stick when I come to a full stop. If I fully engage the brake pedal at a red light, and then release the pedal, the car just sits there. I need to give it a little gas before I feel the car move forward. I can hear the brakes make noise once I hit the gas. It’s a knocking sound. Once I hear that noise, the car moves forward on it’s own without the gas pedal being pressed.

The car works great otherwise. It’s worth noting that the brakes were serviced right before I bought the car as part of the CPO process. The pads were replaced and the rotors were cut at the dealership.

Could this be caused by an improperly machined brake rotor? Is this covered under warranty?

You do have brake assist, right? Might just be its doings. Not to be confused with booster function. It’s something to help hold vehicle on slopes. Kinda sounds like it.
I know pads are not warranted, it’s wear item.

I only have first-hand experience with CR-Vs up to 2011, not the newer generation, so this is more a general suggestion based on the last comment… but try putting the car in neutral on a very slight hill and see if it feels like the brakes are still hanging up, just to eliminate brake assist / hill start as a possible factor if it is equipped. If it still feels like the brakes are hanging up, I would take it back to the dealer in a heartbeat. For 3 year old brakes to be anything but flawless is unacceptable. The ’11 CR-V I just worked on had 110k miles and I just had to throw new pads on and it was great.

I did a bit of research and from 2012 and up CR-Vs came with hill assist. So, I’m assuming it’s just the hill assist doing it’s job. I’ve never driven a car with hill assist before, so it was very bizzare to me at first. Thanks for the info guys.
