So I have this 2000 CRV that’s been getting bad mileage and has started to smell a little bit of fuel from the tailpipe. I decided to check the O2 sensors and maybe replace them. I get under the car to right where the sensor is supposed to be according the Honda service manual, but it’s not there, not even the bung for it. I should mention that I’m from the Philippines and so this is a Philippine spec CRV.
The only thing I can think of is that since the Philippines did not have strict emissions regulations at the time the car was manufactured, they just decided not to put one in it. The car also does not have an OBD port when it’s supposed to have one.
Does anyone have any experience with this? More importantly, what can I do now to diagnose/fix my bad fuel economy?
