What makes an oil dexos certified? Pretty much what is it? What’s it do? And is it necessary?

It’s GM’s certification for engine oils that meet their standards. I am not a petroleum engineer but the oils that are dexos certified are good enough for GM engines. It’s necessary to use Dexos approved motor oils with your GM vehicle if you want to maintain the warranty.

That makes sense. I guess if the engineers say so that’s right. That’s why I’m changing the oil not making it. Lol. Thanks for the answer!!

As per my oil supplier It has the correct additives and properties to meet GM specs. Also contains a color dye additive that can be seen under analysis.
In order to prove that is what is being used in the engine.
