Customer brought me their car after someone “installed” it. A burning smell they say and power cuts. I check the wiring. Sloppy terminal ends. Mediocre grounds and loose connections at the grounding point. Ended up pulling a terminal end off by finger and noticed how small the “8 gauge” wiring was. Don’t cheap out on wiring please, it’s not only crap, it’s dangerous. The wire on the left is the stuff in the car, the wiring on the right is true 8 gauge and a quality wire. All better.

I’ve noticed this big time after getting back into this audio awesomeness. Advertised gauge vs the true AWG rating are two separate entities. Buyer beware and if you can, read reviews if purchasing online, or compare wire thickness between different brands in person if buying locally. It can possibly save your car, or Life!
