Question: Can i use the ECU from my 89 5.0 Caprice to run a 89 5.7 Caprice? Will it make it run lean? im kinda hoping to have a little better mileage now that the track is closed for winter.

I have no idea. You could see if the part numbers are the same.

Usually though the PCM (or PROM chip) may be calibrated differently for the bigger engine.

Hopefully someone that has the answer will chime in shortly.

if the space ecm was from a non performance chipped 350 i would plug it in and go. but it being from a smaller motor i am wary of risking it.

It’s not likely at all that you would be able to do that. Computers aren’t ‘interchangeable parts’. They are programed for specific tasks and in the case of automobiles for a specific vehicle and engine so swapping them out isn’t really something that’s done.
