I have a 2007 f150 xlt. I just added bigger tow mirrors that have turn signals on them. (My old ones didn’t) Well I found the wire inside of them to tap for the turn signals. So I just taped it then ran the wire to a wire in my front turn signal wire. They are working fine. But I wanted to try and see if I could somehow make them operate running lights as well through the same wire, that way I don’t have to take the door pannel back off. Is there anyway I could do this? There are 3 wires running to the turn signal light on the front. a ground, a constant for the running lights and a pullsing for the turn signals. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ??

I’m assuming these new tow mirrors with blinkers are a 2 wire unit.
If so, you will only have one function, IE turn signal or constant running light.
Unless your willing to do some crafty modifications.I’m willing to do some “crafty wiring modifications”. I thought about maybe using a diode on each wire then putting a step down resistor to step down the 12v-6v on the running light side and then tame the wires together. but I have no clue how one of those works. Do you need to hook up the ground wire to the unit or can I hook it up to the car?
I was thinking more along the lines of replacing the blinker light assembly in the mirror with a switchback unit.
I don’t want to take my door panel off to get to the mirrior that would be too much trouble. I was trying to see if I can somehow use the same wire. It’s not worth it if I have to take the mirrior off.
You’re driving a half ton truck. If people can’t already see you, running lights in the mirrors won’t help.
