Replacing rear rotors, calipers and pads on the Gs-r. Took Eric’s advice and removed the two 12mm bolts that hold on the E-brake bracket instead of messing with the cable. First side went fine, took off the bracket on the new caliper and installed the old bracket. On the second one went to remove the bolts on the new caliper with an electric impact and the first bolt sheared off, (was way rusty under the new paint).
It took some time with the old bracket, but I got the retaining clip off and did the PB blaster and heat treatment to the cable housing itself, but I can not get the cable out of the old bracket.
Any ideas how to get the cable loose from the bracket? Thanks, Jim

Or should I go through the hassle of stripping the paint, heating and oiling the remaining bolt on the new caliper, hoping it won’t snap as well?

Keep spraying it. Try a small wire brush on the rusty threads to clean them. Then slowly
try and work at it. You may also try and soak it in a rust restore solution. I believe wd-40
        produces one.

Were no “threads” it was a slip in to the bracket held by by a clip. I ended up just cutting a notch in both sides of the old bracket with a sawsall , broke it off and slid it into the new bracket. Thanks for the suggestions though.
