      Hi All,

      I am making a move from the North East down south and also my 2010 Honda Civic has 300,000km. I feel it is time to replace some coolant hoses. And since I am moving down south I want to make sure the hoses are in good working order.

      I am going to the dealer and picking up the hoses. Which hoses do I need to change. I know Eric mentioned in a few videos which hoses tend to fail over the others but I cannot remember which ones (nor locate the video). What hoses should I change (that are prone to failure) and what should I ask the parts guy for?

      Also, would it be a good idea at this time to replace the thermostat and the radiator cap?

        Coolant hoses? – Replace them all.

          Arrghhh… Good idea is not to touch anything that is not broken?
          Do visual inspection. Are they “swollen” right next to the clamps? If not, let them be. If yes – sure, do replace. But be prepared to MAJOR pipe cleaning, as you’ll find a ton of sediment build up after hose removed.
          Hope you have metal radiator. If plastic top, at that mileage, it’s destined to snap when touched.

            I agree with Barneyb. I wouldn’t go to a dealer for those parts though. Just go to a regular parts store. I recommend getting a bottle of water pump lube (to add to your new coolant.) Coolant only needs to be changed every 50k miles so you might as well change the thermostat. Do yourself a favor though. Submerge the new thermostat in a pan of water. Heat the water and make sure you see the thermostat move when the water gets to the manufacturers specified temperature.. If it doesn’t move it’s bad. I see this all the time. People do their own thermostat and have goofy issues with the car, but rule out the thermostat because it’s new. So in the end they paid me $50-$60 to tell them their thermostat was bad.
