I have a Hyundai trajet with a power steering issue.
the main issue is that the steering gets harder when the engine is idleing or at low RPM (below 1500)
I’m suspecting the pump but I don’t want to throw a part at it.
any other suggestions on what this may be?

The belt tension is ok and the fluid level is between min and max

It’s probably not the pump but rather the rack itself, you might want to inspect it for leaks if you find any then I would recommend replacing it. It’s also important that you use the correct fluid which makes me think of something else you might try and that’s PS fluid conditioner, this MIGHT work, it’s at least worth a try just make sure you follow the the instructions.

Did you check the belt tension? How does the fluid level look?

(Ive never heard of a Trajet before)
