Jack stands

Hi Eric.

I recently watched a few older ETCG1 videos where you did a tour of your workshop and I noticed those four orange jack stands you had that looked quite a lot bigger than the other “regular” ones sitting beside them. Can you tell me what the maximum height of those jack stands is ?

why use jack stands, when you can use ‘yak stands’…

make sure your yak is supported safely before performing routine yak maintenance.

This is the truth! A safely supported yak is a must. I can’t help but point out one important detail… DO NOT place your yak stand under the “seam weld” you may find running along the mid/rear centerline section of the beast. This will make your yak very disagreeable.

Seriously, I don’t know offhand the brand and specs of jack stands that Eric uses. But I can say that all major manufacturers of jack stands offer their products in a wide range of sizes.

Honestly I don’t know the specific height but it’s at least 2.5′.

I have a pair that are 5.5 tons each and a pair that are 6 tons each. So, I’m ready to work on someone’s car even if they have stuff in the trunk.

What I like is the big footprint. No big butt leaning on the vehicle I’m under is going to topple it.
